Here are some common questions people have about the JR Thespian Conference:
DO I HAVE TO GO?
No, it is optional. You will miss the whole day of school in order to attend.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
You are responsible for your own transportation to the Convention Center downtown BOTH to and from the conference. PLEASE do not drop off early or pick up late as Mr. Becker has to transition to the High School conference immediately afterwards.
WHAT IS AN IE?
The term IE stands for Individual Event. Students may perform ONE IE (individual event) at the conference. These will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will then rate the performer(s). If an IE received a rating of Accomplished overall the people involved are then eligible to attend NATIONALS in June in Lincoln, NE.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND NATIONALS IF I QUALIFY?
No - it is optional - but awesome (and about $700).
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR AN IE?
Make sure that you fill out the Registration Form and include the title of the play/musical your IE is from and the author and your partners. Make sure you read the rules including in the packet so you know what is expected
ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS?
To attend the conference on a scholarship please contact Mr. Becker directly at brandon_becker@dpsk12.org.
